The Grove Pre-Primary reaches out
In the June/July school holiday, The Grove Pre-Primary hosted a holiday club with a difference, to make a difference. It was supported by Karin Hoole (a parent at The Grove Primary).
There were two projects involved in the holiday club: Ebenizer Educare centre in Khayelitsha and Colleen's Place of Hope (a home for abandoned children) in Mitchell's Plain.
Both were invited to spend some time in the classes, use the outdoor apparatus and engage in creative activities. The children made clay pots, decorated paper birds, baked, beaded and fabric painted.
Kim Heath (Grade R educator at the Grove Pre-Primary) co-ordinated the holiday club and willing parents and learners gave up their time to connect and engage with the children.
The Grove Primary once again breaks down cultural and socio-economic divides to celebrate the diversity our country in a relevant and caring manner!
